On July 17, 2026, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) published a final rule in the Federal Register regarding the elimination of Duration of Status (D/S) for F and J visa holders. This final rule will go into effect 60 days after the publication date, which will be on September 15, 2026.

The Office of International Affairs/International Student and Scholar Services is reviewing the final rule in detail and analyzing the potential impacts on our campus community. We will share additional information and guidance as it becomes available.
